If you're considering learning to dive and have an interest in the world in which we live, the National Geographic Diver program is the perfect way to integrate the PADI Open Water Diver course - the world's leading dive certification - with the wisdom and experience of National Geographic. Designed to integrate with the Open Water Diver Course, the National Geographic Diver program contains the same materials you'll get as part of the Open Water course along with the National Geographic Almanac and course DVD. You also get a leatherette NG binder which looks really neat, and we throw in an underwater camera you can keep after the course.

Issueable only through a National Geographic Dive Centre, the National Geographic Diver certification is aimed at developing a higher standard of diver through a combination of skills and knowledge training and assessment. By completing it, you demonstrate not only a knowledge of the environmental issues facing our planet and your place in "the grand scheme of things" but also that you've got the skills and awareness to act responsibly as a diver.

You'll earn the National Geographic Diver certification by completing the 5 academic and confined water modules from the Open Water Diver course, with some extra practice at your buoyancy skills, and then you'll complete the 4 certification dives for the Open Water course, followed by two more open water dives during which you'll hover horizontally, head-up and head-down, complete an exploration project during which you'll survey a small area of a dive site looking for the details you'd otherwise miss and take pictures, and a series of navigation exercises. You'll also complete a knowledge review based on the knowledge you gain from studying the National Geographic Almanac and DVD.
